Direct Action Training: Success (and Marbled Murrelets)

Deep Green Resistance Eugene hosted its first non-violent direct action training this weekend. It was a big success! Thanks to everyone who came out, donated, volunteered, and spread the world to help make this possible. We’re looking forward to good things coming from this training. Our culture of resistance is stronger than ever. Attendees raved about the food, the people, the land, and the knowledge. We’re so glad it went well—and this is just the beginning. ...

Old growth trees spiked by eco-warriors in Oregon to stop logging

Environmental activists warned those who cut down ancient trees for profit that giant logs in an Oregon mill have been spiked in protest. Earth First! released the statement [from another group calling itself SAP] Saturday, claiming dozens of spikes had been placed in timber at the Noti mill to stop the company from “processing the oldest and largest trees,” so workers wouldn’t be harmed by cutting into them. Mosier Oil Train Accident: Stop The Flows

Eleven cars carrying highly volatile crude oil from the Bakken Oil Fields in North Dakota, Montana, and Saskatchewan came off the tracks, and several of them caught fire. Is The Climate Movement Making Progress? Reflections on #BreakFree2016

By Dillon Thomson and Max Wilbert / Deep Green Resistance Eugene Also available in French: Le mouvement pour le climat progresse-t-il ? No oil trains would be coming through today. There were more than 200 people on the tracks, some physically locked in place, others suspended in the air, and most simply sitting in their tents, holding the space. The blockade was up and running. Fifty State Troopers and County Sheriffs talked among themselves, and then left, leaving only a few officers to keep an eye. ...

This stand is located in an area where active road construction has been disturbing and destroying vegetation for the past several weeks. We are working to contact local conservation organizations, governmental agencies, and biologists, and neighbors to ensure that this stand is protected and allowed to grow. ...

The Ecosabotage We DON'T Hear About

From our friends in the UK Chapter of Deep Green Resistance: --- We’ve listed the underground actions in the UK that are in the public domain, but what about those we don’t hear about? There’s a rich and continuous stream of resistance that never sees the light of day, never seeks the media feeds or the spotlight. A conversation with a friend recently highlighted this ongoing resistance; whilst transiting through a train station near London he overheard an interesting conversation between four rail engineers discussing ongoing targeting and sabotage of strategic signals in the area. ...
