Organizing for Resistance in Western Oregon

The DGR Eugene chapter has been meeting and actively organizing. We have a number of new recruits locally and are participating in DGR-wide discussions, brainstorms, and planning sessions to develop a more focused strategy for the coming year and beyond. Our current plans include conducting training in several Oregon locations, speaking at conferences, and participating in actions to push the movement to escalation. We’re also considering expanding the scope of DGR Eugene to include all of Oregon (and changing the name to match). Let us know if you have any thoughts on this, or if you’re located in Oregon and interested in becoming a member, ally, or just sitting down to discuss revolutionary politics - contact us.

Deep Green Resistance Eugene hosted its first non-violent direct action training this weekend. It was a big success! Thanks to everyone who came out, donated, volunteered, and spread the world to help make this possible. We’re looking forward to good things coming from this training. Our culture of resistance is stronger than ever. Attendees raved about the food, the people, the land, and the knowledge. We’re so glad it went well—and this is just the beginning. ...

Is The Climate Movement Making Progress? Reflections on #BreakFree2016

By Dillon Thomson and Max Wilbert / Deep Green Resistance Eugene Also available in French: Le mouvement pour le climat progresse-t-il ? No oil trains would be coming through today. There were more than 200 people on the tracks, some physically locked in place, others suspended in the air, and most simply sitting in their tents, holding the space. The blockade was up and running. Fifty State Troopers and County Sheriffs talked among themselves, and then left, leaving only a few officers to keep an eye. ...

Environmental Activists Continue to Face FBI Intimidation

On Friday, January 22, 2016 around 10:30am, an FBI agent from the Seattle field office called activist and community organizer Max Wilbert as part of an ongoing campaign of FBI intimidation and harassment directed at environmentalists. This harassment is believed to be part of an ongoing COINTELPRO-style investigation and harassment campaign against one of the groups Wilbert is involved in, Deep Green Resistance, or DGR. The organization supports “eco-sabotage,” but has a code of conduct for members that explicitly states that they will not harm people or engage in illegal underground activities themselves. ...
